Misai kucing or Java Tea (Orthosiphon stamineus Benth) is a common herb derived from a shrub in Southeast Asia, in particular Indonesia and Malaysia.(1,2)  It has been known to have many different active ingredients that exert biologic activities that are known to be used as a diuretic or for arthritis, inflammation, diabetes, and gout.(1-6)  Of the many ingredients from Misai kucing, caffeic acid derivatives have been identified as one of many contributors.(4)
