What does it mean when a product label says USP verified?
Periodically, the editorial board will release an issue related to explaining principles or terms that all clinicians should be familiar with as many times these will come up in clinical practice. They are also concepts built upon in future newsletters.
First it is important to know what USP means. USP stands for United States Pharmacopeia.1 It is an independent, not-for-profit organization who sets all of the quality standards for prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications as well as other healthcare products manufactured or sold in the Unites States. What does it mean when an herbal or natural remedy's label has a USP verified mark or seal on it?
