Why are certain words in the pharmacogenetic literature and Pharmacology Weekly newsletters italicized?
Periodically, the editorial board will release an issue that explains general principles or terms that all clinicians should be familiar with as they are frequently encountered in clinical practice. They are also concepts built upon in many of the newsletters. A general understanding of how certain information is presented in the medical literature as well as the publications and reference tools by Pharmacology Weekly, provides the clinician with the greatest opportunity for understanding the application of the material.
It may have been evident to you that some words in our publications on the topic of pharmacogenetics are italicized and others are not. This is done on purpose and provides the reader with a basic understanding for the context of a particular word. A good example of this is seen with...
