At the request of our subscribers, we are providing a summary of the common medications that should be used with caution or avoided in breastfeeding women.(1-4)  This table is meant to serve as a quick reference tool and does not replace clinical judgement.  Furthermore, this table represents the most common medications and may not include medications with questionable evidence.  It is important however to recognize that there is still little research in this area with some of the medications listed only having case reports associated with their use during lactation.
